Dateline: Powell Butte, Oregon - Sunday February 14, 2010
A true story as it was told to me by one of our recent clients. (This is why I love going to work each day!)
It was a beautiful central Oregon morning. I was preparing breakfast for my family and good friends, Sara and Jim who were visiting us for a 4 day weekend.
As I was working in my new kitchen, I remember thinking to myself, “I can hardly believe this is MY HOME! I am really here and it’s mine.” About that time Sara, came downstairs and into the kitchen. I said in a cheerful voice “good morning”, but my sprit sank quickly before I could say another word. Sara had tears in her eyes. “What’s wrong?” I blurted out. Sara looked up and quickly said, “I’m fine…. I just love your home so much. I guess I just couldn’t hold back my emotions any longer. I am so jealous of you.” Then looking up and with a little smile, Sara said, “I mean that in a good way of course.” Then she said, “ When we build our home in Caldera Springs next year, I can only pray that we are as lucky as you.” I said thank you, but the only luck was finding Western Design.” “How did you find them?” Sara asked. I replied, “Well we had seen several projects in Brasada Ranch that we really liked. We did some research and found out that Western Design was the creator of those designs. We looked them up and saw even more of their work. By then we knew that they could design us a nice home, but we couldn’t have imagined the time and personal attention we would get. They were so perceptive that I even started to think they were mind readers…. No, not mind readers, heart readers. I mean they did more that put together a check list of wish items, they really figured us out. They also introduced us to George, the incredible artisan who created this home from those plans. Together, they kept us within our tight budget.” “They must be expensive.” Sara said. I replied, “actually, not as much as many of the designers we checked out. The thing of it is, they found so many ways to value engineer and tricks of construction that we saved far more then we paid them.” “You have got to get me Western Design’s contact information.” Said Sara. “My husband and I have to meet them and the builder to.” With a grin on my face I let Sara know, “Well, you will get to meet them, or at least Sandy and Elvin. They said they were dropping by this morning to drop off something for us.” “Really!” exclaimed Sara, “ I better get back upstairs and tell Jim. I can’t wait to meet them!”

PS. Sandy and I did meet Jim and Sara that morning and very much enjoyed visiting with them. Jim and Sara’s story will begin to be written later this year.
Are you ready to write the next chapter in your life?
